DOMINIQUE MINIÈRE NAMED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF GLOBAL FIRST POWER

Nuclear industry leader joins Canada’s first small modular reactor project

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – November 15, 2021 – Global First Power Ltd. (GFP) is pleased to announce that Dominique Minière will lead the company as President and CEO. With 40 years of nuclear experience, including his concurrent role as Executive Vice President, New Nuclear Domestic and International Strategy at Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and past positions, including Chief Operating Officer at Électricité de France (EDF), Mr. Minière is a nuclear industry leader with a wealth of experience in nuclear construction and operation.

Leading the GFP team, Mr. Minière will usher in a new era of nuclear as GFP builds, owns and operates Canada’s first small modular reactor (SMR), an Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC) designed Micro Modular Reactor (MMR®). GFP’s commercial demonstration project, located at Chalk River Laboratories (CRL), will model an energy alternative for heavy industry and remote communities that depend on diesel. CRL, located 200 kilometers west of Ottawa, Ontario, is a site owned by Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) and managed by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL).

Already leading the next generation of nuclear, the project is undergoing an environmental assessment and, in May 2021, announced it was moving to the formal phase of the Licence to Prepare Site stage with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC).
